SUMMARY:10th International Conference on Ambient Systems\, Networks and Technologies (ANT-2019)
DESCRIPTION:Special Session on Big Data from Mobility Tracking Knowledge Extraction in Urban Areas (SSTnK’19) \nSSTnK’19: \n\nis the 1st International Session on Big Data from Mobility Tracking Knowledge Extraction in Urban Areas;\nprovides an international forum on the latest technologies and research in the field of big data and data science;\nwill be held in conjunction with the 10th International Conference on Ambient Systems\, Networks and Technologies (ANT 2019);\nwill be organized in Leuven\, Belgium (April 29 – May 2\, 2019)\n\nAll ANT 2019 (and co-located events) accepted papers will be published by Elsevier Science in the open-access Procedia Computer Science series on-line. Procedia Computer Science is hosted by Elsevier on www.Elsevier.com and on Elsevier content platform ScienceDirect (www.sciencedirect.com)\, and will be freely available worldwide. All papers in Procedia will be indexed by Scopus (www.scopus.com) and by Thomson Reuters’ Conference Proceeding Citation Index (http://thomsonreuters.com/conference-proceedings-citation-index/). All papers in Procedia will also be indexed by Scopus (www.scopus.com) and Engineering Village (Ei) (www.engineeringvillage.com). This includes EI Compendex (www.ei.org/compendex). Moreover\, all accepted papers will be indexed in DBLP (http://dblp.uni-trier.de/). The papers will contain linked references\, XML versions and citable DOI numbers. You will be able to provide a hyperlink to all delegates and direct your conference website visitors to your proceedings. \nAbout the Session \nThe SSTnK’19 is mid-term conference for the Track & Know research project. Track & Know is a Horizon2020 project\, with a focus on Big Data. More specifically\, Track & Know will research\, develop and exploit a new software framework that aims at increasing the efficiency of Big Data. This will be applied in the transport\, mobility\, motor insurance and health sectors. \nThe usefulness of more effective Big Data \nAs the world’s population living in metropolitan areas increases\, so increases the need for effective and sustainable interventions and services to inject mobility intelligence and improve the quality of life in large urban environments. The technological developments have resulted in the collection of unknown volumes of data across systems that’s are operating in the transport\, mobility and the urban applications domains. \nThe existing accumulated large volumes of data\, known as “big data”\, are generating a strong interest in the research communities\, the relevant industries and among policy makers. There is a strong demand for efficient and scalable smart services\, but that imposes new requirements to better exploit the immense and continuously rising amounts of data\, generated by industrial operations\, sensors and devices (Internet of Things – IoT)\, social media and often aggregated Open Data sources. \nTo develop novel applications and services and to create new operational business models Big Data research requires a multi-disciplinary approach. In order to transform the voluminous and incomprehensible data into intelligence and knowledge the new approach will bring together research actors\, customers’ demand and business field experts\, infrastructure operators\, and software industry actors . The business impact of Big Data is starting to take form in many business fields\, e.g. \n\nTransport & Mobility: intelligent transportation\, mobility as a service (MaaS)\, car as a service (Caas)\, pay as you drive\, adaptable insurance services\, smart pricing …\nFinance & Insurance: data-consuming verticals\nHealth-care: where Big Data and IoT solutions are improving cost-efficiency\, performance and quality of patient care services\n\nStill\, however\, innovation is held back by limitations of current Big Data processing methods and infrastructures as in most cases smart services remain uncoupled and isolated. \nTrack & Know \nTrack & Know aims to introduce innovative software stacks and Toolboxes addressing new emerging cross-sector markets related to automotive transportations and urban mobility in general: commercial IoT services; car insurance; and\, healthcare management. The addressed markets have significant industrial and commercial impacts for EU enterprises. \nA special session SSTnK’19\, will be organized in conjunction with ANT conference. This session is a mid-term event of Track and Know\, where progress made so far in the project will be disseminated. Initial results on the three pilots and toolboxes development will be presented. \nAbout Leuven \nLeuven is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant in Belgium. It is located about 25 kilometres (16 miles) east of Brussels. It is the 10th largest municipality in Belgium and the fourth in Flanders. Leuven is home to the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven\, the largest and oldest university of the Low Countries and the oldest Catholic university still in existence. The related university hospital of UZ Leuven\, is one of the largest hospitals of Europe. The city is also known for being the headquarters of Anheuser-Busch InBev\, the world’s largest brewer and one of the five largest consumer-goods companies in the world. \nLeuven’s Town Hall is one of the best-known Gothic town halls worldwide and Leuven’s pride and joy. It took three architects and thirty years to build it. Leuven’s ‘Hall of Fame’ features 236 statues\, which were only added to the façade after 1850. There are 220 men and 16 women in total. On the bottom floor are famous Leuven scientists\, artists and historical figures\, dressed in Burgundian garb. The first floor is reserved for the patron saints of the various parishes of Leuven. Above them the façade is adorned by the counts and dukes of Brabant while the towers primarily feature biblical figures. \nPractical Matters \nPaper Submission Deadline: 15-March-2019 (for publication) or 15-Apr-2019 (presentation only) \nPapers should directly be submitted to the local organizer via email. \nRegistration \nThe Track & Know participants do not require to register. However\, a prior approval and intimation from the local organizer the project coordinator is needed. Please email for more details. \nLimited seating available on FCFS basis. Only lunch and coffee break will be provided to the accepted participants. \nVenue\, accommodation & visa requirements \nFor more information on the venue\, the accommodation and visa requirements\, please consult http://cs-conferences.acadiau.ca/ant-19/ \nLocal Organizers \nIf you have any further questions please contact one of the workshop organizers. \nDr. Ansar-Ul-Haque Yasar \nTransportation Research Institute \nHasselt University\, Belgium \nansar.yasar@uhasselt.be
