SUMMARY:2nd International Workshop on Big Mobility Data Analytics (BMDA)
DESCRIPTION:From spatial to spatio-temporal and\, then\, to mobility data. The next step is mobility-aware integrated Big Data analytics. The second Big Mobility Data Analytics (BMDA) workshop\, co-located with 2019 joint EDBT/ICDT Conference\, aims at bringing together experts in the field from academia\, industry and research labs to discuss the lessons they have learned over the years\, to demonstrate what they have achieved so far\, and to plan for the future of “mobility”. \nThe objective of the BMDA workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in scalable data-intensive applications that manage and analyze big mobility data. The workshop will foster the exchange of new ideas on multidisciplinary real-world problems\, discussion on proposals about innovative solutions\, and identify emerging opportunities for further research in the area of big mobility data analytics\, covering all layers of the Big Data Value Analytics (BDVA) reference model\, namely data management\, data processing\, data analytics\, and data visualization and user interaction. The workshop intends to bridge the gap between researchers and big data stakeholders\, including experts from critical domains\, such as urban / maritime / aviation transportation\, human complex networks\, etc. \nWe encourage submissions of papers that highlight the value of mobility data processing\, analyzing\, and mining on topics that include (but are not limited to) the following: \n\nFundamentals of mobility data analytics\nBig data platforms for mobility data analytics\nParallel / streaming data processing for mobility analytics\nPredictive analytics using mobility data\nComplex event detection for moving objects\nVisual analytics on big mobility data\nMobility-as-a-Service\nInteractive traffic analysis with GPS data\nUrban / maritime / aviation traffic flow forecasting\nUrban / maritime / aviation travel time prediction\nIntegration / interlinking of mobility with societal data\nGeosocial networks\nPhilosophical / ethical / privacy issues on mobility data analytics\n\nTrack & Know\nTrack & Know researchers will participate in the BMDA workshop and present the research progress made by T&K partners. \nPaper Submission Procedure\, Workshop Proceedings\, Journal special section\nWe invite papers discussing novel research and ideas without substantial overlap with papers that have been published or submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings. Submitted papers can be of two types: \n\nRegular Research Papers: these papers should report original research results or significant case studies. They should be 5000-8000 words (at most 8 pages) long.\nPosition Papers: these papers should report novel research directions or identify challenging problems. They should be at most 4 pages long.\n\nSubmissions should be formatted using the EDBT/ICDT 2019 camera-ready template and submitted through the workshop’s submission system at EasyChair. Following the tradition of recent EDBT/ICDT workshops\, all workshop papers will be published online at CEUR. All submitted papers will be peer reviewed by at least three reviewers. If accepted\, at least one of the authors must attend the workshop to present the work. \nSelected accepted papers will be considered for a special section at GeoInformatica (impact factor: 2.1) \nImportant dates\nPaper Submission: December 22\, 2018 (****new deadline****)\nNotification of Acceptance: January 19\, 2019\nCamera Ready Paper Due: January 29\, 2019\nWorkshop date: March 26\, 2019 \nOrganization and Support \nWorkshop organizers: \n\nAlexander Artikis\, University of Piraeus & NCSR Demokritos\nThemis Palpanas\, Paris Descartes University\nNikos Pelekis\, University of Piraeus\, Greece\nChiara Renso\, ISTI-CNR Pisa\, Italy\nYannis Theodoridis\, University of Piraeus & Athena RIC\nDimitrios Zissis\, University of the Aegean\, Greece\n\nProgram Committee: \n\nAmilcar Soares Júnior\, Dalhousie University\, Canada\nAndrienko Gennady\, Fraunhofer Institute IAIS\, Germany\nAskounis Dimitris\, National Technical University of Athens\, Greece\nBaskiotis Nicolas\, LIP6/UPMC\, France\nBogorny Vania\, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina\, Brazil\nChatzikokolakis Kostas\, CNRS\, Ecole Polytechnique\, France\nDallachiesa Michele\, Telefonica\nDoulkeridis Christos\, University of Piraeus\, Greece\nGeorgiou Harris\, University of Piraeus\, Greece\nNanni Mirco\, HISTI-CNR\, Pisa\, Italy\nPatroumpas Kostas\, IMIS\, Athena Research Center\, Greece\nRaffaeta’ Alessandra\, Universita’ Ca’ Foscari Venezia\, Italy\nRay Cyril\, Naval Academy Research Institute\, France\nTrasarti Roberto\, ISTI-CNR\, Pisa\, Italy\nTserpes Konstantinos\, Harokopio University of Athens. SUMMARY:Track&Know - Consortium F2F-4 - Plenary meeting (Piraeus\, Greece)
DESCRIPTION:The project management board agreed on the below agenda for the Piraeus plenary\, scheduled for the 26th and 27th of February. The structure of this plenary is different from previous editions. The emphasis here is on the technical work – the next plenary (25/26 June) will be administratively focused.\n\n\n\nThe two days are centred around pilots – rather than the WP’s. As agreed in Zurich\, we are expecting the technical partners to present results using real data from each of the pilots. To this end ALL PILOT LEADERS (SIS-PAP-ZEL) should coordinate the collection of materials from the toolbox/technical partners to present a holistic view of the data\, the analysis and the integration so far. Yannis’ “live” document for further guidance. Please also include materials for the discussions and next steps sections. Please contact the PM and TM if you require any assistance or guidance on building the sessions\nA template will be circulated to WP leaders to cover the overall project and help to speed conversations forward.\nINTRA are organising a hands-on session on day 2 for all partners to get a feel of working with the platform and dealing with Kafka. Please ensure that if you are building toolboxes that you are available for this session and that you have coordinated from Ioannis before hand to ensure accounts and keys etc. have been generated before hand.\nFinally those not in the Platform workshop are expected to attend the task leaders parallel session where a Zurich style approach to discussing next technical steps at a high-level will take place.\n\nPlease find the full agenda HERE.

SUMMARY:MATES '18
DESCRIPTION:This year the Second International Workshop on Mobility Analytics for Spatio-temporal and Social Data (MATES) is held in Brazil. This workshop combines multiple domains which all heavily rely on spatio-temporal data management. The combination of these domains brings unique data opportunities but also many research challenges\, part of them leading to novel multidisciplinary research avenues. A non-exclusive list of scientific issues and applications includes transportation management and planning at large\, traffic control\, immigration control and security\, interconnected surveillance systems\, and flow management. These issues become even more important when combining social data with other datasets\, thus providing enriched information that may reveal useful knowledge. \nMATES is organized together with the 44th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB). \nMATES is partially supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programmes: datAcron: Big Data Analytics for Time Critical Mobility Forecasting under grant agreement No 687591\, and Track&Know: Big Data for Mobility Tracking Knowledge Extraction in Urban Areas under grant agreement No 780754
